Is it safe to go on safari?

A question that often arises when talking about of Africa is: "Is it safe to go on safari?"

Our answer is, YES! Safaris are not only safe but also offer an unforgettable experience in the heart of nature. Here's a deeper dive into why safaris are safe and how you can make the most of your adventure:

Highly Skilled Guides

One of the key factors contributing to the safety of a safari is the expertise of the guides. Safari guides are exceptionally trained and experienced, having spent countless hours in the bush with wild animals, often over a number of years. Their deep knowledge and understanding of animal behaviour ensures that your safari experience is both exciting and safe. They can read the signs and signals of the wild, anticipate animal movements, and respond appropriately to ensure your safety. This expertise allows you to get close to nature without compromising on safety.

Safety of Game Drive Vehicles

Game drive vehicles are specifically designed to provide the perfect vantage point for viewing wildlife. These vehicles are robust, open-topped, and offer an elevated view, allowing you to see animals in their natural habitat. The animals have become accustomed to these vehicles over time and do not see them as a threat. This means you can observe elephants, lions, leopard, and other wildlife from a safe distance without disturbing their natural behaviour. The vehicles provide an immediate barrier between you and the wilds and are driven by experienced guides who know the terrain well.

Walking Safaris

For a more immersive experience, walking safaris are highly recommended. While this places you outside the safety of a vehicle, rest assured that your guides are well-trained to provide the safest possible experience. Walking safaris offer a unique perspective on the bush and its inhabitants. You'll learn about tracking animals, identifying plants, and understanding the intricate ecosystems of the African wilderness. Your guide will ensure that safety protocols are followed, keeping you at a safe distance from potentially dangerous animals while still allowing you to enjoy the thrill of being on foot in the wild.

Well-Organised Logistics

Outside the game parks, your safety and comfort are paramount. Every aspect of your journey is meticulously planned and organised to ensure a smooth experience. From airport transfers to accommodations, all logistics are handled with precision. Trusted tour operators ensure that you are well taken care of at every stage of your journey. Whether you’re moving between lodges, embarking on a scenic flight, or enjoying a cultural tour, there will always be someone to assist you, making sure everything runs smoothly and that you are never left on your own.

Safaris are definitely safe, particularly with high-quality providers. I went on what was to be my one trip to Africa 30+ years ago. I became addicted. I have been on hundreds of game drives. I love it. If you’re thinking of a safari, just do it! I feel safer on safari then in a big city.
